One of the truest, most sad ironies of my life is that I love cheese, ice cream, and all things dairy, but I’m lactose intolerant. After numerous recommendations from friends and family, fueled by our love for cheese, we visited Tillamook, Oregon, to get the delicious goodness straight from the source.

Bless these people. Seriously. They had lactase pills in the gift shop. They KNOW. 90% of the time that I want to eat dairy I do not have my meds and either I have to abstain from partaking, or take minuscule bites to avoid the future pain.

The self guided tour was immensely informative and we watched the factory churn out their huge slabs of cheddar for longer than we care to admit.

The on site restaurant served their product in all the best ways possible. Grilled cheese, cheese curds, pizzas, burgers and soups. We chose the warmer options due to the cold, dismal weather outside.

We spent the rest of the day driving up the coast and walking on the gray beaches around Oceanside.
