Two separate people recommended Nando’s Peri Peri Chicken to us. It’s a chain that serves a South African style chicken. Obviously, we had to try it out. The restaurant was bright and colorful, and very popular. Phil and I got a plate to share, though after tasting it we could probably have devoured one each. I’m not typically someone who enjoys spicy foods, but Phil said he was quite surprised that I ate the medium sauce as he would have not recommended I try it for being too hot for me.
After Nando’s, we headed to check out Winston Churchill Imperial War Rooms, but when we got there the staff told us the wait would be over an hour and a half long. Since it was already three o’clock, we decided to skip it. Instead, we headed over to Westminster Abbey, debated whether we should pay and wait in the queue for it, but are super glad we did.
We first saw graves in the Chapel of St. Peter at the Tower, but weren’t expecting the overwhelming amount of graves in the floors and walls of Westminster. We felt a bit disrespectful walking over the markers, but if you tried to avoid them you practically wouldn’t be able to move!
There are no photos inside of the sanctuary, however, I got one photo of one of the memorials before being scolded. The sculptures were amazing, and felt more like walking through an art museum than a church. We got to see the graves of Faraday, Newton, Watt, and Hawking, among other scientists, which we nerded out over a little.
Once outside the main sanctuary, we were able to take a few more pictures of the architecture.
Of course I love looking up to marvel at the structure of these opulent spaces, and even though I didn’t get a picture of inside the main sanctuary, there was a side chapel that was almost as breathtaking:
