Towards the end of our honeymoon last summer, we were getting hot, exhausted, and homesick. I ended up not wrapping up the last few days of the trip in blog partially due to a lack of consistent internet and the fact that my previous uploading method for pictures turned out ineffective. I had been blogging for two weeks and NO ONE could see my pictures back home. Someone even said, “There were supposed to be pictures?”

So here we are, nine months later, waiting out the Coronavirus with social distancing, so I finally fixed all my pictures. As a bonus – here’s what we saw in Rome.

We took a bus from San Gimignano in a round about way, all the way to Rome, where the heat was even WORSE than what we were experiencing in Florence. We checked into our hotel, cooled down for a little bit, then grabbed a late lunch.

After eating, we walked around the city, where I snapped pictures of everything around us. Statues, architecture, ancient, medieval, renaissance and modern, all smashed together in the tight streets of Rome.

While we wandered, we would occasionally stumble across things we immediately recognized, such as the Trevi Fountain:

The column of Marcus Aurelius:

One of my favorite experiences was the Pantheon. This structural is amazingly well preserved/restored for how ancient it is. We spent a long time here, inside and out, just marveling over the structure and the layers of age built up around it.

After miles and miles of walking and a long day of traveling, we were more than ready for dinner at the end of the day, and I got to experience cacio e pepe for the first time. It was definitely a must have, and I have been craving it ever since! However, after more than a week of eating almost nothing other than pasta, we split a plate of grilled vegetables, and they tasted phenomenal!
